Do Hilton Hotels Allow Cats? (2026 Update)

While some may opt for a pet sitter or boarding, many of us love to travel with our beloved pets by our side. If you prefer going the traditional hotel route and are looking at Hilton’s in particular, you may be wondering if your favorite feline friend is allowed in the rooms and under what circumstances.
Good news! Several Hilton brands have a pet-friendly policy that allows non-service animals, including cats, in some of their hotels. However, some do not allow non-service animals. And the Hilton brands that do make allowances have their own specific rules regarding pets.
Keep reading to learn more about staying at a Hilton hotel with your cat.
Hilton Hotel’s Pet Policy
Hilton has 18 brands that cover a range of price points, locations, and amenities. All of them allow service animals, and thankfully, most of them have a pet-friendly policy, which includes allowing your cat to stay at one of the places.
However, some Hilton Hotels will have slightly different rules in terms of deposit and maximum weight of the pet. As you might have guessed, the weight requirement will apply for dogs as cats do not reach those sizes (we hope!). Let’s look at a few different Hilton brands:
- Canopy by Hilton: Non-service animals are allowed; $50 deposit, 75-pound maximum
- DoubleTree by Hilton: Non-service animals are allowed; $75 deposit, 75-pound maximum
- Waldorf Astoria Hotels & Resorts: Non-service animals are allowed; $200 deposit, 100-pound maximum
Some Hilton brands will vary on whether cats (or other animals) are allowed.
- Conrad Hotels & Resorts
- Curio Collection by Hilton
- Hampton by Hilton
There are some properties that do not allow non-service pets at all:
- Hilton Grand Vacations
- Motto by Hilton
It is best to reach out via email or phone to get specific clarification about whether your cat is welcome at their establishment. The deposits are required to cover any accidents or damage to the room and restrictions as to where in the hotel your cat is allowed.

The 7 Tips for Bringing Your Cat to a Hilton Hotel
If you plan on bringing your cat to a Hilton hotel, here are some tips to ensure a positive experience for both you and your feline friend:
1. Check the specific hotel's pet policy
Before making a reservation, be sure to check with the hotel directly to confirm their pet policy. Websites are occasionally out of date or contain incomplete information. Some hotels may have restrictions on the number, size, or breed of pets allowed.
2. Bring your cat's essentials and anything else that makes them comfortable
Be sure to bring food, water, litter, a litter box, toys, and bedding. This will help ensure that your cat is comfortable and has everything they need during your stay.
3. Keep your cat contained
It's important to keep your cat contained in your hotel room to prevent them from getting lost or causing damage. Bring a carrier or crate for your cat to stay in when you're not in the room.
4. Be respectful of other guests
Not everyone is comfortable around cats, or they may be allergic, so be respectful of other guests and keep your cat away from those who are not interested in interacting with them.
5. Clean up after your cat
Be sure to clean up after your cat and dispose of litter and waste properly. Cat urine, especially, can leave lingering odors and stains and should be taken care of immediately. This will help ensure that the hotel room stays clean and sanitary.
6. Do a safety check of the room
Make sure there isn’t anything in the room that could accidentally hurt your cat, like curtains/blinds and electrical cords. Check that windows and doors to balconies are always secured.
7. Take advantage of the “do not disturb” sign
A curious kitty could easily slip out into the hallway and become lost when housekeeping opens the door. You can also request that housekeeping skips your room altogether for the duration of your trip or leaves fresh towels and linens outside the door.

Final Thoughts
Traveling is one of the great joys of life; many of us want to share the experience with our cats. If you prefer staying in hotels, Hilton hotels do allow cats in some of their hotels, but each individual property has its own specific rules regarding pets. Be sure to check with the hotel directly and follow their pet policy to ensure a positive experience for both you and your feline friend.
