  • The 5 Best Thanksgiving Dog Sweaters

    1. Wagatude Multi-Colored Striped Hood Dog Sweater – Best Overall

Wagatude Multi-Colored Striped Hood Dog Sweater new
    Design:Pullover

The Wagatude Multi-Colored Striped Hood Dog Sweater is adorable. While this sweater is more expensive than other options, it features a cute hooded design. The hood adds extra material to the sweater, which is likely why it is decently more expensive than most options. It even has an added pom for extra cuteness.

This sweater is durable enough to be worn outdoors, making it perfect for most types of gatherings. Our only gripe is that it is only hand-washable—you cannot wash it in a washing machine.

    Pros

    • Cute design
    • Many sizes available
    • Durable material
    • Hooded design

    Cons

    • Cannot be put in the washing machine

    2. Frisco Cream Cable Knit Dog Sweater – Best Value

Frisco Cream Cable Knit Dog Sweater new
    Design:Pullover

Most people do not have tons of money to spend on a sweater. However, the Frisco Cream Cable Knit Dog Sweater is a great, affordable option for those on a stricter budget. Even in bigger sizes, this sweater remains pretty affordable.

The simple pullover design makes it easy to put on your canine. There is a higher cut on the belly, which is nice for male dogs. You won’t have to worry about taking the sweater off for them to use the bathroom.

With that said, this sweater isn’t as festive as other options. It is mostly just white with some plaid thrown in. Therefore, it may not work for those looking for something extremely festive.

    Pros

    • Affordable
    • Higher cut on the belly
    • Available in many sizes
    • Built-in leash hole

    Cons

    • Not as festive as other options

    3. Frisco Geometric Dog Sweater

    Frisco Geometric Dog Sweater new
    Design:Pullover

Like all the other sweaters we’ve reviewed, the Frisco Geometric Dog Sweater features a pullover design. In other words, you simply pull it over your dog’s head. This sweater doesn’t scream “Thanksgiving” as much as other options, but it is still a cute sweater that might work well for a gathering.

Compared to other sweaters out there, this one is significantly cheaper. Therefore, it works great for those on a budget. It features a high-cut belly design and a leash hole for your convenience.

    Pros

    • Cute, geometric design
    • Inexpensive
    • Comes in many sizes

    Cons

    • Not very festive

    4. Frisco Colorblock Bone Accent Dog Sweater

Frisco Colorblock Bone Accent Dog Sweater
    Design:Pullover

Compared to other options, the Frisco Colorblock Bone Accent Dog Sweater isn’t nearly as festive. It doesn’t feature many fall colors, despite being advertised for Thanksgiving. Therefore, this design may be better for those who want a sweater for their dog to wear during different times of the year.

For your convenience, there is a leash hole cut into this sweater, as well as a higher cut on the dog’s belly. Therefore, you can easily take your dog out with this sweater on.

There are several sizes available, so you should be able to find a great option for your canine.

    Pros

    • Higher cut on the belly
    • Comes in many different sizes
    • Leash hole

    Cons

    • Not very festive
    • Poor fabric quality

    5. Disney Mickey Mouse Southwest Patterned Dog Sweater

Disney Mickey Mouse Southwest Patterned Dog Sweater new
    Design:Pullover

Despite the Mickey Mouse design, the Disney Mickey Mouse Southwest Patterned Dog Sweater is a great option for Thanksgiving. It features some fall colors, which may make it festive enough for your gathering. It also comes in many different sizes, and there are no complaints about the sizing. Use the sizing chart and you should be able to find the perfect size for your dog.

It is one of the few machine-washable options on this list. However, it is quite more expensive than other options. The larger sizes are particularly more expensive. With that said, it is a Disney-brand item, so this is expected to some extent.

    Pros

    • Many sizes available
    • Fits to size
    • Machine-washable

    Cons

    • Expensive
    • Not the most festive option

Buyer’s Guide: Finding the Best Thanksgiving Dog Sweater

Luckily, purchasing a sweater for your dog is pretty straightforward. But there are a few things you should keep in mind. Not many features will make or break a dog sweater, but some are important enough to consider.

Here are some of the features you need to keep in mind when shopping for a dog sweater:

    Leash Hole

A sweater should preferably have a leash hole cut into the neck. While you can sometimes get around this issue by simply going above the sweater’s neckline, having a hole easily available is simply easier. If you plan on taking your dog somewhere with the sweater on, then this feature is even more important. However, even if you don’t, we recommend getting one with a leash hole just in case you need to use a leash.

Of course, how well the leash hole works is also important. Just because a sweater has a leash hole doesn’t mean it is large enough for most leashes.

    Belly Cut

Sweaters can be long on the dog’s back. However, it shouldn’t be very long on the dog’s belly. If it is, you may have issues with your dog going to the bathroom. If you have a male dog, this problem is even more important.

If you can’t look at the sweater in person, read the reviews or descriptions to ensure that the manufacturer takes this into account. Sadly, many companies leave this important feature out of their design.

    Washability

Sadly, most dog sweaters cannot be thrown into the washing machine. Given that our dogs are so dirty, this can be a serious issue. You can handwash them in many cases. However, this is often difficult to accomplish.

It is a much better option to choose one that is machine washable. If your dog tends to get dirty, this is even more important. However, there are plenty of cases where you may not need this feature, such as if you’re purchasing a sweater for mostly one occasion.

    In Conclusion

There aren’t that many Thanksgiving dog sweaters out there. Unlike Christmas sweaters, companies do not make many outfits for Thanksgiving.

With that said, our favorite sweater for Thanksgiving is the Wagatude Multi-Colored Striped Hood Dog Sweater. This sweater is pretty festive and is made with quality fabrics. The hooded design is very adorable, and there are many different sizes available.
