What to Bring

When taking your dog to a water park, you should make sure to bring a few things to ensure that you have a smooth trip and a fun time.

Make sure you bring:

  • A towel
  • Waterproof leash
  • A collar
  • Identification
  • Snacks
  • Fresh water to drink (especially if it is hot out)
  • Entrance fee
  • Paperwork or registration for specific dog parks

Public vs. Private Dog Water Park

Most of the parks on this list are private water parks. They are not operated by the local government or municipalities. Private parks have their own rules and regulations that you have to abide by before you go. Many private parks are connected to dog daycare or boarding facilities meaning that you cannot stay and play with your pooch. Many dog water parks only allow you to drop off instead of staying with your dog. Not everyone will be on board with leaving their dog at the water park, while some people will think that it sounds like a great idea.

Make sure to look up the rules, requirements, and regulations before bringing your dog to a private water park. You don’t want to show up and realize you forgot some paperwork or the entrance fee.

Explore Local Water Events

If the idea of a doggy water park sounds amazing to you, but none of these places are close enough for you to easily visit, you can look out for water events in your local area. Many locations will open local pools or park splash pads to dogs during special events. Do a quick search for dog pool events near you. State parks, cities, and private companies will invite dogs during holiday events, charity events, and more. While your dog might not be able to enjoy a doggy water park year-round, they can still play in the water in areas that they usually cannot during these special times.

Conclusion

These eight water parks represent the best of the best when it comes to canine facilities. These water parks are spread out across the country, with clusters found in Florida and California, where the weather is more amenable to outdoor play year-round. Many dog water parks are attached to doggy daycare centers. If you want to visit a doggy water park, make sure to look up the rules and regulations before you go. Many of these parks have strong regulations that help ensure everyone stays healthy, happy, and safe while swimming. These places are a great way to let your dogs cut loose and get some unique experiences.
